Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Starlight

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Starlight

Earlier this year Christian Louboutin debuted their beauty range with a line of nail polishes, first a signature red shade before launching more colours ranging from bright colours to nude and rich autumn shades.

Those cylinder-shaped polishes started at a budget-friendly £36, but their latest offering, the Rouge Louboutin Starlight, costs a lot more – £495/$675 to be precise.

And here’s why: the Rouge Louboutin Nail Colour has been transformed into a rare exquisite jewel with 1,500 two-tone Strass crystals hand applied with the utmost attention to detail, creating a reflective garment that magnifies the architecture of the faceted glass bottle and extreme height cap, glorifying the iconic red nail colour.

The glimmering Rouge Louboutin is preciously encased in a velvet soft black insert, sitting in a jewellery-like box with a black lacquered finish, showcasing a red reveal. Two leather and Strass flowers borrowed from Fall 2014 ‘Pensamoi’ rest delicately as a decorative accent on the box cover.

Only 1,000 pieces have been made available worldwide due to the intricate handcrafting of the process Rouge Louboutin Starlight.

You can buy the Rouge Louboutin Starlight from Christian Louboutin boutiques and online, Harvey Nichols, Nordstrom and Sephora.

Get The Look: Kelly Rowland’s MTV Video Music Awards Mani

Get The Look Kelly Rowland’s MTV Video Music Awards Mani

It’s obvious to see that Kelly Rowland is having fun with her pregnancy when she took to the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. I love how her artsy nails complemented her braided halo and sparkling Kaufmanfranco gown.

Celebrity manicurist, Sarah Bland-Barbuto, who has worked with Kelly on several occasions, created a design for Kelly called the half-moon mani.

A small area of the nail around the cuticle is lined in one color and it resembles the shape of a half moon. The glitter that is used is from Sarah’s own line Artiglio. The glitter is cosmetic grade glitter that is specifically made for use in manicures.

Sarah says to start with the gold polish first. She used Nail Labo Presto Gel #155 on Kelly.

Follow by applying the nude Nail Labo Presto Gel #63 with a round brush. The gel polish prevents chips and will help prolong the life your manicure.

Nail Trend Spotting: 2014 SAG Awards Chic Naturals

Nail Trend Spotting - 2014 SAG Awards Chic Naturals

A few of the gorgeous ladies who attended the annual SAG Awards showcased some lovely, light-coloured manicures. Though each manicurist had different inspirations in mind, they all lead to the same thing: elegance.

Celeb manicurist Lisa Postma was inspired by “something very Parisian” and dressed up Elisabeth Moss’ nails in a beautiful neutral color: Essie’s Cocktails and Coconuts, which is part of their upcoming resort collection.

Christina Aviles, Sarah Hyland’s manicurist, went for something simple and clean. Essie’s upcoming Vanity Fairest looked gorgeous against Sarah’s baby pink gown.

Michelle Dockery sported quite a cocktail of pinky lights thanks to celeb manicurist Christina Aviles. The combo: Essie’s Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle. She wanted to pair Michelle’s classic black and white gown with something class and fresh.

Get The Look: Lupita Nyong’o SAG Awards Manicure

SAG Award winner, Lupita Nyong’o was certainly the bell of that ball at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. While the beautiful star stunned in a teal-blue Gucci gown, it was her copper manicure that was doing most of the sparkling. Deborah Lippmann took her nail expertise to the next level by creating a unique look exclusively from her nail lacquer collection for the featured red carpet starlet.

Starting with a fortified and chip resistant base, Deborah chose to coat nails in her Gel Lab Base Coat. This starter coat not only prolongs a manicure but it protects nails without any harsh gel lights.

For colour, Deborah created a new shade by layering two polishes. For the first color, she opted for a single coat of Swagga Like Us, an oxidized cooper color with a hint of teal. The mirrored chrome finish of the polish served as a festive base for next nail shade.

Deborah followed with one coat of Chain Reaction, a dirty brass glimmer colour. Featured in her latest ‘Rock This Town’ trio collection, the muted shimmer finish of the polish looked especially radiant layered over the previous shade. The blended polished made for a beautifully shimmering copper colour that perfectly complimented her full look.

Finally, to seal the picture perfect manicure, Deborah polished nails in Gel Lab Top Coat.

A fabulous blend that rivaled the lovely metal tones of the SAG Award, this manicure is a must-have look. Would you try this polish blend for your next manicure?

Nail Trends Spotting: Chic White Manicures

Nail Trends Spotting Chic White Manicures

White nails were first spotted on the runway at Nanette Lepore’s Spring 2014 runway show. Now chic red carpet regulars have recently been seen dressing their nails in this pristine shade and don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Most recently, Kristen Wiig was seen sporting an ultimate white manicure to the ‘Spoils of Babylon’ film premiere. Whether it’s intense, opaque whites or creamy blends, here are some tips to sport this clean shade all season long.

Nail Styles: If you’re feeling a bit edgy, try pairing white polishes on longer squared tipped nails, like the stylish Kylie Jenner did on the red carpet at various events. A manicure in a richly opaque blend of white, like Essie’s Blanc, offers a fresh approach to the otherwise simple shade. Take a note from ‘Revenge’ star, Ashley Madekwe and keep the look elegant with rounded edges and a creamy, slightly translucent white polish, like O.P.I polish in Alpine Snow.

Polish Finishes: Another fantastically fashionable way to update the white manicure is choosing a polish in an expected finish. For a slightly glamorous touch, try polishing your nails in a white with a sheen finish, like Deborah Lippmann’s ‘Silks’ Nail lacquer in Pseudo Silk Kimono. Dressing your nails in a white shimmery, pearlescent finish makes white nails look a bit more luxe. If you desire a more high fashion look, try a white polish in a matte finish. Snag a bottle of Jin Soon’s Matte Maker and layer over your favorite white (or any colour) for a modern matte look.

Nail Trend Spotting: 2014 Golden Globes Moody Darks

Nail Trend Spotting 2014 Golden Globes Moody Darks

Dark polishes made their appearance during the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. And with manicures getting more and more coverage (hello, mani cams), nails are becoming a trend all on their own.

Taylor Schilling donned Essie’s Berry Naughty, a beautiful oxblood shade. Celebrity manicurist, Beth Fricke, wanted a color that would look gorgeous against her dark, kelly-green gown.

Celebrity manicurist Christina Aviles decided on a deep red to stand out against Jessica Chastain’s dark dress. Essie’s Poor Li’l Rich Girl was the perfect shade to complement.

Michelle Saunders, celebrity manicurist for Kate Beckinsale, went with what she thought was a bold choice for the red carpet. “But she pulled it off flawlessly,” says Michelle. The colour?

Essie’s Licorice, which gave off the effect of patent leather–the perfect addition to her metallic gown.

Have you been sporting the dark nail trend? If not, you’ve still a few weeks left before lights and pastels start making their rounds for spring.
